This cake has a very special history.
Joe Mastrella and our Production Manager, Bobby, worked together as chefs in the early 2000s. During that time, they developed the Choc-O-Noli—a vanilla cake layered with chocolate mousse and cannoli mousse and finished with whipped cream.
The cake later became a signature dessert at Joe’s restaurant, Luciano’s, and La Bon continued making it for him for many years.
Joe passed away earlier this year. In his memory, La Bon will donate $2 from every Joe’s Choc-O-Noli Cake sold to the Joseph Mastrella Scholarship Fund, which will benefit a graduate of the culinary program at Middlesex County
Magnet Schools.
